I am trying to install Windows NT 4.0 build 1141 in 86Box. The CD is not bootable so I have to use a DOS/95/98 bootdisk and WINNT, but literally nothing is working:
-WINNT (creates boot floppies and copies setup files to hard disk) does not work because setup cannot find the hard disk files (which are indeed there).
-WINNT /B (floppyless operation) does not work because after booting from the hard disk, KBDUS.DLL fails to load.
-WINNT /OX (create boot floppies for CD-ROM based installation) does not work because even though the CD is connected, setup thinks it is not (when it asks for the CD-ROM, pressing enter does nothing. It acts like the CD is not even connected).
These problems happen with no matter what kind of boot disk I use, as well as if I copy the I386 folder from the CD to the hard disk.
Is there something I am missing? Is there a fix or a successful way to install this build?
Specs:
Award 430VX PCI (Now called Shuttle HOT-557)
Pentium 120
32MB RAM
Phoenix S3 Trio64
PS/2 mouse
Sound Blaster 16
Novell NE2000
BusLogic BT-545S (switching between SCSI and IDE during setup and through 86Box config does not work)
1024MB hard disk
Thanks

Is the hard disk type in BIOS set to LBA?

Using this config, it installs perfectly fine for me in 86Box 2.07 using DOS 6.22 bootdisk and WINNT /B. Both hard drive and CD-ROM set to IDE/ATAPI, hard drive also set to LBA mode in CMOS. I tried the same with a Windows 98 SE No-Ramdrive bootdisk, made a FAT16 partition, lock c:, smartdrv c+, then WINNT /B and got the KBDUS.DLL error.
So use a DOS 6.22 bootdisk with IDE HDD and CD-ROM, HDD set to LBA mode and it should work unless there's something else at play here.
